The Boulé: the first post-graduate Black Greek-letter fraternity, founded in Philadelphia in May 1904 by professional men including Drs. Henry McKee Minton, Algernon Jackson, Edwin Howard, and Richard Warrick (per the Emory-held organizational records). Invitation-only, members called Archons, chapters called member boulés, no collegiate chapters; independent of the NPHC. Overlapping individual dual membership with Divine Nine organizations is documented (e.g., Martin Luther King Jr.); no formal organizational affiliation with the Divine Nine is documented.
