The Reading Room
CultureTechLens is built to be used. Here is how, depending on who you are.
If you are a teacher
- Assign the Index edition as a data-literacy lesson: students re-rank the ten artifacts and defend their signals. Edition 2026-10: Artifacts.
- Cite any page directly; every page ends with its own Cite as line and the grade of its claims.
- Download the edition data (CSV) from the Index home for classroom analysis.
- Bring a hard question to the archive through the contact form — unanswered questions become research assignments here.
If you are a journalist
- Quote the boilerplate and fast facts verbatim from the press page — no permission needed.
- Check any claim’s grade before you repeat it; Provisional means we are still checking, and we say so.
- Link the edition or dataset you used; the Index edition carries a DOI (10.5281/zenodo.23081630) for permanent reference.
- Press contact: [email protected] — corrections are answered and logged publicly.
If you are a student
- Start in the entity directory: find a name, then follow it into the record.
- Bibliographies: Chicago, APA, and MLA formats for the graph and Index are on How to Cite Us.
- Notice what is missing — the graph marks undocumented subjects as undocumented, never as zero. Gaps are researchable.
- The full research corpus is open on the research page, free to read and cite.
If you are a funder
- CultureTechLens NFP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 39-3143901), Chicago, Illinois; donations are tax-deductible.
- The record as of October 2, 2026: 14 flagship packages, 25 briefs, 8 dossiers, 334 entities, 260 mapped relationships — all public and countable.
- Methods are versioned and corrections are public; what you fund can be audited from the outside.
- Support the work at the donation page or write to [email protected].

The people, places, and institutions this work documents. Photographs from the CultureTechLens research record — rights-cleared, credited, and cited like everything else here.

Trust & evidence
Evidence before authority. CultureTechLens publishes its methods, its limits, and its corrections alongside its findings. Claims carry grades — VERIFIED, SUPPORTED, PROVISIONAL, DISPUTED, UNRESOLVED — and unknowns are never reported as zero.
Every claim graded. Every source named. Every correction public — none to date.
