Roller-rink dance community
PROVISIONAL evidence grade of this record
Chicago's Black roller rinks were dance floors in their own right — skating venues where R&B, soul, and early house played and where skate-dance styles developed. The rink circuit connected the disco-to-house transition for skaters who never entered the clubs, extending the dance floor's geography.
