"Six-hour dollar" circulation claim (DEBUNKED)

CTL-E-1344 · Institution · other · 1996–present (myth lifecycle)

Verified evidence grade of this record

The widely repeated statistic that a dollar circulates six hours in the Black community traces to a 1996 self-help book that names no study; debunked by Howard University's TruthBeTold and economist William Spriggs as an urban myth. Documented as a Disputed claim to prevent the merge step from treating it as evidence — the leakage campaigns are real; the number is not.
