The first Black woman CPA in the United States (1943), Washington trained under Arthur Wilson at Binga State Bank, founded her own South Side firm (1931 or 1939 — disputed), and built Washington, Pittman & McKeever into a training pipeline that made Chicago the national center of Black CPA concentration.
