Black educator (1900–2011) born in Dallas, Texas; taught in Dallas schools for nearly two decades, moved to Chicago in 1942, and taught at Howalton Day School after her twin sister Doris Allen — a founder — enlisted her. Howalton grew out of Oneida Cockrell's pioneering preschool and kindergarten.
