Horace M. Peterson III

Horace M. Peterson III (1945-1992) founded the Black Archives of Mid-America in 1974 after collecting African American artifacts since adolescence. His vision also drove the Kansas City Jazz Museum, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, and the restoration of the historic Gem Theater. He died in a drowning accident in March 1992 at age 46.
