The 75th Tony Awards were presented on June 12, 2022, at Radio City Music Hall, hosted by Ariana DeBose and broadcast on CBS and Paramount+ — Broadway's full return to its own house after the pandemic ceremony of the year before. The CTL record is verified against the official winners list at tonyawards.com. The production honors went to The Lehman Trilogy as Best Play and A Strange Loop as Best Musical; Company and The Lehman Trilogy were the night's most awarded productions, with five wins each; and the Regional Theatre Tony came to Chicago, to Court Theatre. Four of the graph's five person edges for this event are competitive wins, and the fifth is an honor of a different kind, stated in its own form below.

The acting wins span the musical and play ballots. Myles Frost won Best Leading Actor in a Musical for MJ, in which he played Michael Jackson. Joaquina Kalukango won Best Leading Actress in a Musical for Paradise Square, the season's epic of Civil War-era New York. Phylicia Rashad won Best Featured Actress in a Play for Skeleton Crew — in a career this graph also records across television. Michael R. Jackson's edge is an authorship-and-craft form: he won Best Book of a Musical for A Strange Loop, which took Best Musical and made its lead producer Jennifer Hudson an EGOT winner that night.

Jones-Koumba's honor carries a program behind it, and the award announcement documents the program in detail. At G. W. Carver Magnet High School she directs the Panther Players, Troupe 6753, whose competition pieces and one-act plays have earned regional and national awards and multiple Tommy Tune Awards for musical theatre; her own prior honors include the Stephen Schwartz Musical Theatre Teacher of the Year Award and induction into the Texas Thespians Hall of Fame. The selection panel — drawn from the American Theatre Wing, The Broadway League, and Carnegie Mellon — weighed endorsements from students past and present, one of whom wrote that she taught them, "usually black and brown kids from inner-city communities, that we could do anything."

The award's own history sharpens its place in the graph. Co-founded in 2014 by the Tony Awards and Carnegie Mellon, the Excellence in Theatre Education Award exists to put a classroom teacher on the same stage, in the same broadcast frame, as the season's stars — a structural claim that the culture's reproduction matters as much as its premieres. CTL's modeling follows that claim: Jones-Koumba's edge to the 2022 event is of the same type as Frost's and Kalukango's, differentiated by the honor's exact form, which the entry states rather than flattens into a win.

Jones-Koumba — "Miss Jones" to her students — had led the Carver troupe for more than seventeen years by the night of the ceremony, at a school whose full name, G. W. Carver Magnet High School for Performing and Visual Arts, states its mission outright. The CMU account of her honor lingers on the students' outcomes: working actors on stage and television, graduates continuing their education, alumni in careers outside performing — the spread a theatre program is supposed to produce and rarely gets credited for at a national podium. Her edge in this graph is the 2022 instance of a standing form: the education award recurs in this batch's Tony events, and each instance is stated in its own terms.

The fifth honoree is Roshunda Jones-Koumba, who received the 2022 Excellence in Theatre Education Award, the honor presented by the Tony Awards and Carnegie Mellon University to a K-12 theatre educator — Jones-Koumba taught drama at G. W. Carver Magnet High School in Houston. It is not a competitive category on the winners list, and the entry states it as what it is, per the award's own announcement: a national education honor presented at the 75th ceremony. Together the five edges give the 2022 ceremony its shape in this graph — two musical headliners, a Morisseau production carried by a veteran, a Black auteur's book win inside the season's Best Musical, and a Houston classroom teacher honored on the same stage. CTL holds the 2022 Tony Awards as a VERIFIED event record: the 75th ceremony, June 12, 2022.
