The Cincinnati Tigers were a professional Negro league baseball club based in Cincinnati, Ohio, founded in 1934 by DeHart Hubbard, the first African American to win an individual Olympic gold medal (the long jump at the 1924 Paris Games). Built from Hubbard's Excelsior amateur club, the Tigers played in the integrated Indiana-Ohio League and the Negro Southern League before joining the new Negro American League as charter members in 1937, which raised the club to major-league status. The Tigers played at Crosley Field, home of the Cincinnati Reds, and wore the Reds' cast-off uniforms. Managed in 1937 by Ted "Double Duty" Radcliffe, the club finished second in the league's overall standings and sent five players — Radcliffe, Howard Easterling, Ducky Davenport, Porter Moss, and Rainey Bibbs — to the East-West All-Star Game. The club folded after its single major-league season; one Cincinnati account holds that the team was sold and became the Memphis Red Sox, a lineage claim this record reports rather than asserts.

Notes

STAGED 2026-10-16 (747 Program, Named Remainders & Further Gaps, Batch A) — not merged; awaits founder merge go. Gate A: PASS — no graph record under the name. Peer model: Negro American League (CTL-E-5517), Organization/other, BCI-001. Conflicts SHOWN, not blended: (1) 1937 won-lost figures differ by scope — BR Bullpen gives 19–10 in league play, while the Seamheads-derived season account gives 44–36 overall; the Statistics section carries both with their scopes labeled. (2) First manager: the club history names Dizzy Dismukes as first manager in 1934 with Carl Glass also managing that season, while BR Bullpen's summary names Glass — the description names neither for 1934 and names Radcliffe only for 1937, where sources agree. (3) The Beacon Journal's 'sold and became the Memphis Red Sox' lineage is a single-source claim: it is reported as that paper's account, and NO succession edge to the Memphis Red Sox is staged (the schema in any case has no Organization succession type; succeeded_by is Church/Technology only). Edges staged: member_of to CTL-E-5517 (Negro American League). Map: N/A. Photo: HELD. MEDIA LAYER (staged 2026-10-16; full per-asset PHOTO-001 records + embed specs in the packet's staged JSON, Drive packet folder): map = N/A (Organization/team records carry no map slot under the media-layer rule; maps attach to places and institutions) | visual_assets = HELD: No file-page-level PHOTO-001 license verification completed at staging and no cleared photograph of the club w | chart = FILLED (CTL-created timeline built only from this record's sourced facts.) | video = HELD (No CTL Short in the Shorts Link Map catalog (shorts-link-map-2026-10-15.json, 233 entries, searched by name st) | audio = HELD (No CTL-owned or rights-cleared matching-entity audio exists at staging; slot held with reason.)
