I Feel for You is Chaka Khan's 1984 solo album on Warner Bros. Records, released after the dissolution of Rufus, the band she had fronted alongside her solo career from 1978 to 1983. Its title track is Khan's version of a song Prince wrote and first recorded on his 1979 album Prince; Khan's recording adds a rap introduction by Melle Mel of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and a harmonica part by Stevie Wonder, and it became an international hit that relaunched her mainstream career. The song reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, topped the U.S. R&B and dance charts and the U.K. singles chart, and earned Grammy Awards for both Prince, as songwriter, and Khan, as vocalist. The album also carries the ballad 'Through the Fire' and the singles 'This Is My Night' and 'Eye to Eye,' and it stands as the mainstream breakthrough of Khan's solo career.
