Kane Brown, born Kane Allen Brown on 21 October 1993 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is an American country singer and songwriter. He is biracial — his mother is white and his father is Black and part Cherokee — and he was raised by his single mother in northwest Georgia and the Chattanooga area, at times experiencing homelessness. First drawn to R&B, he turned to country after winning a school talent contest, sang in a high-school choir alongside Lauren Alaina, and built a mass following posting cover videos on social media. After his debut EP Closer (2015), he signed with RCA Nashville in early 2016 and released his self-titled debut album that December. Its singles “What Ifs,” featuring Alaina, and “Heaven” crossed over, and in October 2017 he became the first artist to hold simultaneous No. 1s on all five main Billboard country charts. Experiment (2018) became his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200. “One Mississippi” topped Country Airplay ahead of Different Man (2022). His fourth album, The High Road, arrived on 24 January 2025, and he remained active through 2026 with new singles including “Woman” and “Boots.”
