Jaxon Smith-Njigba, born 14 February 2002 in Nacogdoches, Texas, is an American football wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks. He is of Sierra Leonean descent through his father: his paternal grandparents came from Sierra Leone, and as a high-school player he added "Njigba" — his grandfather's original surname, set aside for "Smith" on immigrating to the United States in the 1970s — to his own name to honor him. Raised in Rockwall, Texas, he starred at Ohio State, where his 347 receiving yards against Utah in the Rose Bowl on 1 January 2022 set the bowl's record. Seattle selected him 20th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. In 2025 he led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards on 119 receptions, was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year, and helped Seattle win Super Bowl LX over New England in February 2026. That spring the Seahawks signed him to a four-year, $168.6 million extension, reported as the richest contract ever given to a wide receiver. He remains Seattle's No. 1 receiver in the 2026 season.
