Combined Graph record U-07219 · provenance: build store (JSON graph), record CTL-E-5983.

Elly De La Cruz, born Elly Antonio De La Cruz on 11 January 2002 in Sabana Grande de Boyá, Dominican Republic, is a Dominican switch-hitting shortstop for the Cincinnati Reds whose combination of power and speed has few precedents at his position. Signed by Cincinnati as an international free agent in 2018, he debuted on 6 June 2023 and quickly became the center of the Reds' lineup. At 6 feet 5 inches he is unusually tall for a shortstop, yet he led Major League Baseball in stolen bases in 2024 and was selected to the All-Star Game in both 2024 and 2025. In 2026 he produced the best season of his young career, batting .283 with 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in 143 games to join Eric Davis, Barry Larkin and Brandon Phillips as the only Reds players with a 30-30 season. Through the 2026 season he had 90 career home runs and 169 stolen bases, and at 24 he remained under Cincinnati's control, with arbitration eligibility arriving in 2027.

Notes

Staged 2026-10-16 under CTL-GOV-006 (Census Intake Wave 4 — 747 Program, Wave 10; 40-record packet). Gate A (2026-10-16): no Elly De La Cruz entity in the live graph at 3,683 entities (exact / normalized / alias + token containment); ID CTL-E-5983 assigned at assembly. Supply: 747 Supply Ledger, Tier 3 — Famous Birthdays ABSENT census, readiness rank 1115 (Baseball Players list). The census supplied the NAME ONLY; no fact in this record is sourced to it (CTL-GOV-004). SCOPE GATE: PASS WITH GAP NAMED — Dominican shortstop born in Sabana Grande de Boyá, Dominican Republic (Wikipedia; Sports Illustrated), staged within CTL's Afro-Latino / Dominican diaspora scope. GAP NAMED: three search passes located no standard source applying the label Afro-Dominican or Afro-Latino to De La Cruz individually; Dominican birth and nationality are documented, African descent is not separately documented for the subject in the sources found. Record is therefore staged Provisional pending a sourced Afro-Dominican documentation or a founder scope ruling (precedent: Romeo Santos staged in Wave 3 under a founder diaspora-scope ruling). Vital status: LIVING — active Cincinnati Reds shortstop in September 2026, completing a 30-30 season on 25 September 2026 at Toronto (Sports Illustrated; Albat). STATISTICS (sourced, dated): Through the 2026 season: .262 career average, 90 home runs, 285 RBIs and 169 stolen bases; in 2026, .283/.365/.515 with 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in 143 games (Wikipedia; Sports Illustrated) — accessed 2026-10-16. MEDIA: photo HELD (candidate: Cincinnati Reds / MLB press photography of De La Cruz at Great American Ball Park; no file page read at file-page level — CTL-PHOTO-001; CTL-created graphic is the standing alternative); chart FILLED (charts/chart-ctl-e-5983-elly-de-la-cruz.svg); video HELD (Shorts Link Map checked — no matching CTL Short); audio HELD (no rights basis). Coordinator verification pass (2026-10-16): one additional targeted search for individual-level Afro-Latino / African-descent documentation was run at assembly for this record; no citable individual-level source was found, so the Provisional cap and the named gap stand, pending a sourced document or a founder scope ruling (precedent: Romeo Santos, Census Intake Wave 3). MEDIA LAYER (staged 2026-10-16; full per-asset PHOTO-001 records + embed specs in the packet's staged JSON, Drive packet folder): map = N/A (Person records carry no map slot under the media-layer rule; maps attach to places and institutions.) | visual_assets = HELD: | chart = FILLED (CTL-created SVG (black / deep red / gold) built only from this record's sourced facts) | video = HELD (No matching-entity CTL Short in the Shorts Link Map catalog (checked by name and variants), and no official/em) | audio = HELD (No CTL-owned or rights-cleared matching-entity audio at staging; the subject's own recordings/appearances are )
