The Colored World Series was the championship series of Black baseball, played in two eras. From 1924 through 1927 it matched the champion of the Negro National League against the champion of the Eastern Colored League, taking the name Colored World Series; the Kansas City Monarchs won the first edition in 1924, defeating Hilldale in a best-of-nine series, Hilldale won the 1925 rematch, and the Chicago American Giants took the 1926 and 1927 series over the Bacharach Giants. After a long gap in which no interleague series was held, the championship resumed from 1942 through 1948 between the second Negro National League and the Negro American League, by then generally called the Negro World Series. The Monarchs again won the first series of the new era, sweeping the Homestead Grays in 1942; the Grays won three titles, and the Cleveland Buckeyes, Newark Eagles, and New York Cubans won one each before the final series in 1948. The Monarchs were the only club to appear in both eras.

Notes

Staged 2026-10-16 under CTL-GOV-006 (Scan Tail Wave 3 — 747 Program, Wave 10; third Scan Tail packet at the founder's 40-record size). Gate A (2026-10-16): no Colored World Series entity in the live graph at 3,683 entities (exact / normalized / alias + token containment); ID CTL-E-6020 free. Supply: 747 Supply Ledger, Tier 4 — Scan Tail Wave 2 packet ordered reserve, position 15 of 25 (corpus-gap-candidates-2026-10-15.json ranked clean survivor #1143). The scan supplied the NAME STRING ONLY; no fact in this record is sourced to it (CTL-GOV-004). SCOPE GATE: PASS — Black baseball's championship record; directly extends the graph's Negro leagues holdings (Monarchs CTL-E-5773; Negro National League CTL-E-5245; Negro American League CTL-E-5517). Vital status: Not applicable — an event series, not a person. STATISTICS (sourced, dated): Series count: 4 (1924–1927) + 7 (1942–1948) = 11, per Baseball-Reference Bullpen's era summary and Wikipedia's champions table, accessed 2026-10-16. CONFLICT SHOWN: the 1942 score is given as a 4–0 Monarchs sweep by Wikipedia's table and implied by the NLBM's 'swept,' while one secondary year-by-year table in the search results lists 4–1 — the sweep (4–0) is adopted from the two stronger sources and the 4–1 figure is recorded here as the dissenting count. MEDIA: photo HELD (Named candidate: 1924 Kansas City Monarchs team photograph from the first Colored World Series (Negro Leagues Baseball Museum collection; rights and PHOTO-001 record required, HELD). named as candidate; no file-page verification in this pass); chart FILLED (charts/chart-ctl-e-6020-colored-world-series.svg); video HELD (no matching-entity CTL Short or verified-rights archival video staged); audio HELD (no rights-cleared matching-entity audio staged). MEDIA LAYER (staged 2026-10-16; full per-asset PHOTO-001 records + embed specs in the packet's staged JSON, Drive packet folder): map = N/A (Non-place record; no map attaches at the entity layer.) | visual_assets = HELD: | chart = FILLED (CTL-created SVG (black / deep red / gold) built only from this record's sourced facts) | video = HELD (No Short in the Shorts Link Map has the Colored World Series as its subject.
