VERIFIED evidence grade — build store (JSON graph)

Combined Graph record U-07250 · provenance: build store (JSON graph), record CTL-E-6022.

The Homestead Grays were a Negro league baseball club rooted in Homestead, Pennsylvania, the steel town outside Pittsburgh whose mill workers first fielded the team. Organized in 1910 and taken in hand by player, manager, and eventual owner Cumberland Posey, the Grays played profitably as an independent club, joined the short-lived American Negro League in 1929, and fielded eastern championship teams in 1930 and 1931. After Depression-era lean years and a failed East-West League, Posey brought the club into the reorganized Negro National League, where it became a full member and built a dynasty around catcher Josh Gibson and first baseman Buck Leonard. The Grays won nine consecutive league pennants and three Negro World Series titles, split their home dates between Pittsburgh and Washington, and outlasted the league itself, playing two final independent seasons before disbanding after 1950.
