Combined Graph record U-07329 · provenance: build store (JSON graph), record CTL-E-6110.

The Cuban X-Giants were a professional Black baseball team formed from defecting members of the Cuban Giants, a split dated to 1896 in one account and to a rival side forming in 1895 in another. Like the original Giants, the early X-Giants were not Cuban, although the club later signed Cuban players. Business manager Edward B. Lamar Jr. ran the team, which the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum describes as the dominant Eastern club of the late 1890s and early 1900s. In 1897 the X-Giants beat the Cuban Giants two games to one. Frank Grant joined in 1898, and Sol White was with the club until 1900. In 1903, with Rube Foster pitching, the X-Giants took five of seven games from the Philadelphia Giants for the Eastern title; Philadelphia reversed the result in 1904 after signing Foster away. John Henry Lloyd played his first professional season with the club in 1906. The team became a founding member of the National Association of Colored Baseball Clubs of the United States and Cuba in late 1906 and folded before play began in 1907.

Staged 2026-10-16 under CTL-GOV-006 (Scan Tail Wave 4 — 747 Program, Wave 11; fourth Scan Tail packet at the founder's 40-record size). Gate A (2026-10-16): no Cuban X-Giants entity in the live graph at 3,763 entities (exact / normalized / alias match + token containment; CLEAR). ID CTL-E-6110 free. Supply: 747 Supply Ledger, Tier 4 — Scan Tail Wave 3 packet ordered reserve, position 25 of 35 (corpus-gap-candidates-2026-10-15.json ranked clean survivor #1873). The scan supplied the NAME STRING ONLY; no fact in this record is sourced to it (CTL-GOV-004). SCOPE GATE: PASS — Canon record — pre-Negro National League Eastern Black baseball; no Chicago tie claimed. Vital status: Organization record (no vital status): formed via the Cuban Giants split dated 1896 in Wikipedia's narrative (1895 in BR Bullpen; 1897 in the NLBM duration line), and folded before play started in 1907 (Wikipedia, accessed 2026-10-16). STATISTICS — STATISTICS (sourced, dated): The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (accessed 2026-10-16) lists duration 1897–1907 and honors including Colored Champions (1899) and Eastern Champions (1897–1903). The 1903 championship series against the Philadelphia Giants ended 5 games to 2, and the 1904 rematch 2 games to 1 (Baseball-Reference Bullpen; Wikipedia, both accessed 2026-10-16). CONFLICT SHOWN, NOT BLENDED: formation is dated 1895 by BR Bullpen (a rival side began to form), 1896 by Wikipedia's narrative (split; first season), and 1897 by Wikipedia's infobox and the NLBM duration line. The 1905 Brooklyn games' aggregate also conflicts: Wikipedia's game scores (won 7–2, lost 2–1) imply 8–4 overall, while BR Bullpen states the club outscored Brooklyn 8 to 3. TIER: Provisional under CTL-GOV-006 — the club's formation year — a central fact for a team record — is given as 1895 (Baseball-Reference Bullpen), 1896 (Wikipedia narrative) and 1897 (NLBM / infobox) with no authoritative tiebreak opened; the record presents the split rather than asserting a year. MEDIA: photo HELD (Cuban X-Giants team photograph hosted on the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum team profile (image file Cuban-X-Giants-1.jpg at nlbm.com) — a later PHOTO-001 pass to verify date, credit, and rights; no license claimed here. — named candidate only; file-level rights verification per CTL-PHOTO-001 still required; no license claimed); chart FILLED (charts/chart-ctl-e-6110-cuban-x-giants.svg); video HELD (no matching-entity CTL Short or verified-rights archival video staged); audio HELD (no rights-cleared matching-entity audio staged); map N/A (no address-based map spec earned).
