Rocky Jones is an American DJ, producer, and record label founder in Chicago house music. Discogs lists his real name as Alexander M. Alcarese and identifies him as the founder, with Benji Espinoza, of D.J. International Records and its successor DJ International Multimedia. Resident Advisor reports that Jones founded D.J. International in Chicago in the mid-1980s, based across the street from the Warehouse club; DJ Mag dates the founding, with Espinoza, to 1985. The label's first releases included J.M. Silk's 'Music Is the Key,' and its 1986 compilation The House Sound of Chicago carried Steve 'Silk' Hurley's 'Jack Your Body,' Farley 'Jackmaster' Funk's 'Love Can't Turn Around,' and Marshall Jefferson's 'Move Your Body.' The label also released Joe Smooth's 'Promised Land' and, in 2017, began a remastered digital reissue campaign of 130 singles from a catalogue by then controlled by Universal Music. In 2021 the label relaunched under exclusive license to Last Man Music with Jones, its original founder, still at its helm.

Notes

Staged 2026-10-16 under CTL-GOV-006 (Scan Tail Wave 7 — 747 Program, FINAL Wave 13; seventh Scan Tail packet at the founder's 40-record size). Gate A (2026-10-16): Gate A CLEAR (hand-checked 2026-10-16): no Rocky Jones entity, alias, or variant in the live graph (3,910 entities). ID CTL-E-6269 free at staging. Supply: 747 Supply Ledger — Tier 4 corpus scan tail, corpus-gap-candidates-2026-10-15.json ranked #2948. The scan supplied the name string only; every fact is sourced under CTL-GOV-004. SCOPE GATE: Founder of D.J. International Records, one of the founding Chicago house music labels — Black Chicago music infrastructure at the center of the graph's scope. Jones's own racial identity is not stated in the opened sources and is not asserted; the scope basis is the label's documented role in Black Chicago house music. Vital status: LIVING — evidence dated 2021: XS Noize's report of the label's 2021 relaunch describes Jones, its original founder, as still at its helm (accessed 2026-10-16). No birth date or birthplace is documented in any opened source, and none is staged. STATISTICS — Founding form CONFLICT SHOWN, NOT BLENDED: Resident Advisor (2017) credits Jones alone ('founded by Rocky Jones'); DJ Mag (2020) and Discogs describe a founding with Benji Espinoza; the description follows the co-founding form with the sole-founder account noted here. Founding year: 1985 (DJ Mag) vs. 'mid-1980s' (Resident Advisor). Reissue campaign figure: 130 singles remastered for digital release from November 10, 2017 (Resident Advisor). DUPLICATE NOTED, NOT RESOLVED: the label is homed TWICE in the live graph — CTL-E-0170 and CTL-E-4075, a flagged duplicate pair; this packet's wire uses CTL-E-0170 per Scan Tail Wave 1 practice. The duplication is the founder's merge call, not this packet's. TIER GAP: No institutional or archival source (e.g., a museum, university, or label-history archive) was opened for Jones himself; the record rests on music-trade journalism (Resident Advisor, DJ Mag, XS Noize) and the Discogs artist page, and his legal name is single-sourced to Discogs. Tier capped at Provisional. MEDIA: photo HELD (no candidate photograph identified at file level in the opened sources; NO license is claimed — PHOTO-001 verification deferred); chart FILLED (charts/chart-ctl-e-6269-rocky-jones.svg, CTL graphic from this record's sourced facts); video HELD (No matching-entity CTL Short in the Shorts Link Map (shorts-link-map-2026-10-15.json, 233 rows, checked by name and variants, 2026-10-16); no near-miss title found.); audio HELD (no rights-cleared matching-entity audio staged); map N/A (Person records carry no map slot.) MEDIA LAYER (staged 2026-10-16; full per-asset PHOTO-001 records + embed specs in the packet's staged JSON, Drive packet folder): map = N/A (Person records carry no map slot.) | visual_assets = HELD: | chart = FILLED (Created for this packet (CTL graphic, CTL-PHOTO-001 lane) from the record's sourced facts.) | video = HELD (No matching-entity CTL Short in the Shorts Link Map (shorts-link-map-2026-10-15.json, 233 rows, checked by nam) | audio = HELD (HELD: No CTL-owned or rights-cleared matching-entity audio exists at staging.)
