Notes
Sports Encyclopedia roster CTL-SPE-0424. Firsts disposition: 'First Black woman to coach in a Super Bowl' (Super Bowl LVII, February 2023) ASSERTED — supported by East Tennessee State University (university official) and Essence, with Sports Illustrated corroborating and the Philadelphia Eagles confirming her role and tenure; the claim was flagged verification-pending on the roster and clears that bar here. A second milestone, first Black woman coach to win a Super Bowl (LIX, 2025), is sourced to Essence and stated as such. Curator's Judgment (DRAFT): Lockwood's first happened in the performance room, not on the play sheet — which is exactly why it matters: the coaching pipeline runs through strength and performance staffs, and she is its proof at the highest level.
