Notes
Sports Encyclopedia roster CTL-SPE-0232. Firsts disposition: ASSERTED — 'first Black snowboarder to win an X Games gold medal (Knuckle Huck, Aspen 2020),' supported by two independent accounts in this record (SnowBrains and Wikipedia), with the X Games' own athlete page confirming the 2020 gold and the 2024 silver. The April 2025 Jordan Brand signing is stated as a signing only; a circulating claim that Powell was the label's 'first professional snowboarder' rests on a single source here and is NOT asserted. Burton U.S. Open appearances are not stated as results — no sourced result was found at build time. Curator's Judgment (DRAFT): Powell's gold came in the one event judged on imagination, which is the point: he did not assimilate into snowboarding's template, he bent the template until it scored style first. Photo: CLEARED — Zeb Powell (USA) 2025.jpg, CC BY-SA 4.0 (Stephen LaBonte); the Commons description names snowboarder Zeb Powell at Red Bull Heavy Metal Boston, February 22, 2025. Correction note: an early Lane A delivery truncated this search to empty and the record was first drafted as HELD; the full result, received before filing closed, returned five Powell files and this one cleared on license and depiction.
