Combined Graph record U-07812 · provenance: build store (JSON graph), record CTL-E-6940.

Elana Meyers Taylor of Douglasville, Georgia, is an American bobsled pilot who, per Team USA, has won six Olympic medals across five Winter Games — more than any other woman in bobsled history and the most by any Black athlete in Winter Olympic history. She medaled at every Games she entered: bronze in the two-woman event at Vancouver 2010, silver at Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018, and silver in monobob plus bronze in the two-woman event at Beijing 2022, before winning her first gold, in monobob, at the Milano Cortina 2026 Games at age 41, tying Bonnie Blair's record of six Winter Olympic medals by an American woman. Elected by her teammates as a Beijing 2022 Opening Ceremony flag bearer, she missed that ceremony while isolating with COVID-19 and instead carried the flag at the Closing Ceremony. She also holds ten world championship medals, including four world titles.

The record

Notes

Sports Encyclopedia roster CTL-SPE-0234. Firsts disposition: NO 'first' is asserted in the description. Medal count VERIFIED AT BUILD TIME (2026-11-03), not carried stale: Team USA's profile gives six Olympic medals (1 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze) across five Games including the Milano Cortina 2026 monobob gold — superseding the five-medal count that stood after Beijing 2022. 'Most decorated Black athlete in Winter Olympic history' and 'more Olympic medals than any other woman in bobsled' are record claims stated on Team USA's authority; the tie with Bonnie Blair (six medals by a U.S. woman) is stated from the NBC/Team USA record. Flagbearer role stated precisely per USOPC: elected for both ceremonies, carried the flag at Closing only. Curator's Judgment (DRAFT): Sixteen years, five Games, no empty trips — and the gold arrived last, at 41, in the event she helped argue onto the program. The flag story is the career in miniature: chosen, sidelined by circumstance, chosen again.
