Diana Taurasi (born June 11, 1982) is a retired American guard who spent all twenty of her WNBA seasons with the Phoenix Mercury and retired as the league's all-time leading scorer. Drafted first overall in 2004 after leading Connecticut to three consecutive NCAA championships, she was Rookie of the Year, then the engine of Phoenix's championships in 2007, 2009, and 2014, winning the league MVP award in 2009 and Finals MVP twice. On June 18, 2017, she passed Tina Thompson to become the WNBA's career scoring leader; on August 3, 2023, at age 41, she scored 42 points against Atlanta to become the first player in league history to reach 10,000 career points. She announced her retirement on February 25, 2025, with 10,646 points — nearly 3,000 clear of the next player — along with league records for field goals (3,341) and three-pointers (1,447) made, five scoring titles, eleven All-Star selections, and six Olympic gold medals. Phoenix retired her No. 3 in 2026 and named a street outside its arena "10646 Taurasi Way" for her career point total.

Notes

NOT in the AAES roster v2 — roster-addition proposal for the AAES intake; no SPE id invented. Phoenix Mercury is not homed in the graph, so no played_for edge. The Connecticut college chapter (three consecutive NCAA titles, 2002–2004) is carried as her standard biographical record alongside the WNBA.com and AP accounts. Curator's Judgment (DRAFT): Taurasi's scoring record is the league's defining statistical monument — stated here with its two dated waypoints (the record taken in 2017, the 10,000-point barrier in 2023) rather than as a bare total.
