Seimone Augustus (born April 30, 1984) is a retired American guard whose career at LSU and with the Minnesota Lynx made her the catalyst of a dynasty. A Baton Rouge native, she led LSU to three consecutive Final Fours, won the Naismith, Wooden, and Wade national player-of-the-year awards twice each, and became the first woman athlete at LSU to have her jersey retired (2010) and, in 2023, the first with a statue on campus. Drafted first overall by Minnesota in 2006 and named Rookie of the Year, she spent fourteen seasons with the Lynx: after lean early years she led the franchise to its first championship in 2011 as the unanimous Finals MVP, then to further titles in 2013, 2015, and 2017, earning eight All-Star selections and scoring more than 6,000 career points. She closed her playing career with the Los Angeles Sparks in 2020, announced her retirement in May 2021 to join the Sparks' coaching staff, saw the Lynx retire her No. 33 in 2022, and has served as an assistant coach at LSU since 2024.

Notes

NOT in the AAES roster v2 — roster-addition proposal for the AAES intake; no SPE id invented. Minnesota Lynx and Los Angeles Sparks are not homed in the graph, so no played_for edges. NOTE: one stale reference copy in circulation calls her the '2008 finals MVP' — that is an error; LSU Athletics and ESPN agree the Finals MVP was 2011, and the record carries 2011. Curator's Judgment (DRAFT): Augustus is the dynasty's foundation stone — drafted into a losing franchise in 2006 and still its emotional center when the fourth banner rose in 2017.
