VERIFIED evidence grade — build store (JSON graph)

Combined Graph record U-08011 · provenance: build store (JSON graph), record CTL-E-7139.

Jamahal Hill (born May 19, 1991, in Chicago, Illinois) is an American mixed martial artist raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and a former UFC light heavyweight champion. A 2019 Dana White's Contender Series graduate, Hill took the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 283 on January 21, 2023, outstriking former champion Glover Teixeira over five rounds in Rio de Janeiro. He never defended the belt: in July 2023 he ruptured his Achilles tendon playing basketball and vacated the title. His return at UFC 300 in April 2024 ended in a first-round knockout loss to Alex Pereira, and further losses followed — to Jiří Procházka by third-round TKO at UFC 311 in January 2025, and to Khalil Rountree Jr. by unanimous decision in Baku on June 21, 2025. Hill has not fought since; in 2026 interviews he disclosed knee surgery — a cartilage transplant — and a long recovery ahead. His record stands at 12–4 with one no-contest.

The record

Notes

Birthplace/hometown split, stated exactly: Hill was born in Chicago and raised in Grand Rapids — the packet brief's “Grand Rapids” is his hometown, not his birthplace. His status as the first Dana White's Contender Series alumnus to win a UFC title is widely carried in UFC 283 coverage but is not asserted in the description pending a direct carrier at merge. The 2026 knee-surgery detail rests on interview reporting and is attributed as his own disclosure. Curator's Judgment (DRAFT): Hill's title win opened the Contender Series era's championship account; the Achilles tear that cost him the belt without a single defense is the cruelest line in this packet.
