Evidence note (master store)

Preservation Chicago's report, quoting Block Club Chicago (tier 3, Madison Savedra, 6/20/24), states: 'Double Door opened on Wicker Park's Milwaukee Avenue in 1994 and became an iconic rock venue' and 'The club was evicted in 2017 following a lengthy court battle with its landlord' — i.e., the Wicker Park club closed 2017. Contemporaneous trade reporting (Bisnow, published 2017-02-07, also fetched in full) specifies the eviction from 1572 North Milwaukee Ave. and the 1994 opening by Sean Mulroney and Joe Shanahan. Afterlife as stated by the fetched source: since 2019 the co-owners have worked to move the club to the former Wilson Theater at 1050 W. Wilson Ave. in Uptown, backed by a $5 million City of Chicago Community Development Grant. No Evanston afterlife is stated in any fetched source. (fetched in full 2026-10-17)
