Evidence note (master store)

Preservation Chicago (tier 4), reproducing Block Club Chicago reporting of June 29, 2021, identifies the Congress Theater as "the landmark theater at 2135 N. Milwaukee Ave." in Logan Square, states it was "Built in 1926 as an ornate movie palace," and that "in 2013… the city shut down the historic venue following a string of code violations," leaving the space "sitting empty for nearly a decade" while developer Baum Revision pursues a restoration and reopening under a city-approved plan. Establishes existence, theater type, Logan Square address, 1926 build year, and closed status with the 2013 shutdown year as this fetched source states it. (fetched in full 2026-10-17)
