The peer-reviewed Journal on the Art of Record Production (tier 3 scholarship, built on Drexel University's Sigma Sound Studios Collection archives and interviews with the founder) states: 'Located at 212 N. 12th St. in Philadelphia, Sigma Sound Studios was Philadelphia's primary site of record production during the 1970's and 1980's. Founded in 1968 by Joseph D. Tarsia, it was at Sigma where producers and songwriters Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff, Thom Bell, the production team of Baker, Harris and Young, along with many others, created' Philadelphia soul; its house band MFSB backed the O'Jays, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, The Delfonics, The Three Degrees and Teddy Pendergrass on Philadelphia International Records releases including 'TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)'. Establishes existence, recording-studio type, address, city, 1968 founding, and the stored Philadelphia International / Gamble & Huff note (fetched in full 2026-10-17)
