Evidence note (master store)

Dan Freeman is the titular protagonist of the film The Spook Who Sat by the Door (1973): a Black CIA recruit who leaves the agency to train young Chicago Blacks as 'Freedom Fighters' (African American Registry). Dan Freeman is performed by Lawrence Cook: the Registry names Freeman as the film's protagonist and lists Lawrence Cook as the film's star; BFI/Sight and Sound (also fetched in full) likewise calls Lawrence Cook 'the film's star' and Freeman the operative whose quest the story narrates. The character was created by Sam Greenlee in his 1969 novel of the same name (African American Registry: the film was based on the 1969 novel by Sam Greenlee), supporting the novel side of the stored creator credit; the film was directed by Ivan Dixon.
