Johnny Griffin

Johnny Griffin grew up in Chicago, studied at DuSable High School, played with Lionel Hampton, and became a leading hard-bop tenor saxophonist. Griffin was part of the Chicago tenor lineage alongside Von Freeman, representing the city's hard-bop saxophone school.
