State Street / South Parkway Black business corridor

CTL-E-1374 · Neighborhood · 1900s–1930s; c. 1908-1961

PROVISIONAL evidence grade of this record

BVM-005 established that State Street (especially 35th-39th) concentrated Black-owned and Black-financed development, while the Regal/Savoy/South Center complex at 47th and South Parkway was principally white-developed and financed until S.B. Fuller bought the Regal in 1961. W4 encodes this distinction as the ownership-pattern anchor of Black commercial geography.
