Dizzy Gillespie

American jazz trumpeter, bandleader and composer; with Chano Pozo he co-created the Afro-Cuban jazz (cubop) fusion. Pozo was the first Latin percussionist in Gillespie's big band (1947–1948), which played Chicago's Pershing Ballroom in autumn 1948.
