US Studios
VERIFIED evidence grade of this record
US Studios was Robert Williams's mid-1970s Chicago party venture, the organizational predecessor of the Warehouse. A New Yorker formed by that city's disco club culture, Williams arrived in Chicago in 1973, found little comparable nightlife, and began hosting DJ-led dance parties at a series of former industrial venues in the West Loop and South Loop, as documented in the City of Chicago landmark report. The parties moved through several addresses before settling at 206 S. Jefferson in 1977 as the Warehouse proper. US Studios matters to the graph because it shows the Warehouse was an iterated experiment in rooms before it was a famous one.
