The Isley Brothers are an American soul and R&B group formed in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1954 by brothers O'Kelly Isley Jr., Rudolph Isley and Ronald Isley, after the death of their brother Vernon ended the family's original gospel quartet. They broke through with 'Shout' (1959), their first charting single, which sold over a million copies; charted 'Twist and Shout' (1962) and the Motown hit 'This Old Heart of Mine' (1966); and won a Grammy Award for 'It's Your Thing' (1969), released on their own T-Neck label. Expanded in 1973 into a six-member band with younger brothers Ernie (CTL-E-5687) and Marvin Isley and brother-in-law Chris Jasper, the group cut the defining funk and quiet-storm records of the era — 'That Lady,' 'Fight the Power,' 'For the Love of You,' 'Between the Sheets.' They are the only act in popular-music history to place new music on the Billboard Hot 100 in six consecutive decades, from the 1950s ('Shout') to the 2000s ('Contagious,' 2001). Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, they received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014; Ronald and Ernie Isley perform as the group today.

Notes
STAGED 2026-10-16 (747 Program, Priority Gaps — Wave 5) — not merged; awaits founder merge go. Gate A: no match in the live graph (3,381 entities) under exact, normalized, alias, or token-containment screening, 2026-10-16 — the group, like Ernie Isley, was entirely absent; the Wave 2 packet named both as further gaps. DOCUMENTED CHOICE (per the packet brief): both Ernie Isley (CTL-E-5687) and the group are minted. The wiring requires both: Alex Isley's unblocked edge is child_of → Ernie (a Person endpoint), while Ernie's membership in the family band is carried by a related_to edge to this group record — the schema offers no Person→Person(group) membership type, so related_to carries it with the membership stated in the edge evidence. This makes the packet 13 records (CTL-E-5679–5691) rather than 12; no alternate was needed, as every roster name cleared Gate A. Typed Person / group with project PPL-001 on the graph's group precedent (Ramsey Lewis Trio, CTL-E-5544). Group vital status: ACTIVE — Ronald and Ernie Isley perform as the group at staging (member listings; January 2026 Hollywood Walk of Fame star reporting). Project ID: PPL-001. MEDIA LAYER (staged 2026-10-16; full per-asset PHOTO-001 records + embed specs in the packet's staged JSON, Drive packet folder): map = N/A (Group records carry no map slot under the media-layer rule; maps attach to places and institutions.) | visual_assets = HELD: No file-page-level PHOTO-001 license verification completed at staging; slot held rather than filled with an u | chart = FILLED (CTL-created SVG built only from this record's sourced facts and statistics; CTL-branded palette (black / deep ) | video = HELD (No CTL Short bills the Isley Brothers, and the group's television performances are third-party copyrighted bro) | audio = HELD (No CTL-owned or rights-cleared matching-entity audio exists at staging; the group's catalog is label copyright)
