Carver High School — today the George Washington Carver Military Academy — is a public Chicago high school at 13100 South Doty Avenue in the Riverdale area of the city's Far South Side, operated by Chicago Public Schools and named for scientist and educator George Washington Carver. The district established the school in 1947 to serve the families of the Altgeld Gardens housing development, which had opened nearby in 1944, and the school opened its doors on January 4, 1949, with 875 students. It is now a public four-year military high school whose teams, the Challengers, compete in the Chicago Public League. A building at the current address was completed in 1973, with renovations finished in 1995. Chicago Public Schools reporting gives enrollment of 397 students for 2022–23.

STAGED 2026-10-16 (747 Program, Named Remainders & Further Gaps, Batch A) — not merged; awaits founder merge go. Gate A: PASS — no graph record under Carver High School or its later names. Date handling shown, not blended: the district established the school in 1947 (the date the school's references carry as its founding) and the building opened to students on January 4, 1949 — both facts are carried with their distinct meanings rather than collapsed into one year. The school's present name is George Washington Carver Military Academy; the roster name 'Carver High School' is kept as the record name with the current name as an alias, matching how the graph's alumni records name it.
