The St. Louis Stars of this record were a Negro leagues baseball club from St. Louis, Missouri, formed in 1936 as an independent team that joined the newly founded Negro American League for its charter season in 1937 and disbanded before the 1938 season because of financial difficulties. The club played its home games at Metropolitan Park. Baseball-Reference's Negro American League register lists the Stars among the league's eight 1937 clubs, alongside Birmingham, Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis, Kansas City and Memphis. This Stars club was an entirely different organization from the original St. Louis Stars, the Negro National League club that played from 1922 to 1931 after replacing the St. Louis Giants, and the two are not blended in this record: the 1937 club's history begins in 1936, a half-decade after the earlier club folded with its league in 1931. The Stars name was used again in St. Louis in 1939 by another distinct club, the team that became the St. Louis–New Orleans Stars; that later reuse is likewise outside this record, which covers only the 1936–1937 organization and its single Negro American League season.
