Nick Cannon, born Nicholas Scott Cannon on 8 October 1980 in San Diego, California, is an American comedian, actor, rapper and television host who has been a fixture of youth television since his teens. Raised largely in Lincoln Park's Bay Vista housing projects in Southeast San Diego and a 1998 graduate of Monte Vista High School, he broke in through stand-up comedy and joined Nickelodeon's sketch series All That as a teenager, also writing for the show. Film leads followed in Drumline (2002) and Love Don't Cost a Thing (2003), alongside a recording career launched by his self-titled debut album in 2003. His defining creation is Wild 'n Out, the improvised comedy-battle series he created and hosts, launched on MTV in 2005 and still running two decades later. He hosted NBC's America's Got Talent for eight seasons and has hosted Fox's The Masked Singer since its 2019 debut, while running his NCredible Entertainment company. In 2020 he completed a bachelor's degree at Howard University in criminology and administration of justice, four years after enrolling at the HBCU.
