Romeo Santos, born Anthony Santos on 21 July 1981 in the Bronx, New York City, is a Dominican-American singer, songwriter and producer known as the King of Bachata. Born to a Dominican father and a Puerto Rican mother, he sang in a church choir as a child and co-founded the bachata group Aventura in the Bronx, serving as its lead vocalist, frontman and principal songwriter. Aventura fused bachata with R&B, hip-hop and pop, breaking through internationally with “Obsesión,” which spent sixteen weeks at No. 1 in Italy. After Aventura split in 2011, Santos launched a solo career with Fórmula, Vol. 1 (2011), followed by Fórmula, Vol. 2 (2014), carrying “Propuesta Indecente” and “Odio,” featuring Drake, and sold-out stadium shows including Yankee Stadium. Golden (2017), Utopía (2019) and Fórmula, Vol. 3 (2022) completed his solo run through the trilogy. In November 2025 he released Better Late Than Never, a collaborative album with Prince Royce that debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Tropical Albums, and in 2026 he co-headlined the Mejor Tarde Que Nunca tour across the United States, Europe and Latin America.
