LeBron James, born LeBron Raymone James on 30 December 1984 in Akron, Ohio, is an American basketball player widely considered one of the greatest all-around players of all time. A prodigy at St. Vincent–St. Mary High School in Akron, where he won three state championships, he was the first overall pick of the 2003 NBA draft. He has won four NBA championships with three different teams — the Miami Heat (2012, 2013), the Cleveland Cavaliers (2016) and the Los Angeles Lakers (2020) — and four NBA MVP awards, and he holds three Olympic gold medals (2008, 2012, 2024). On 7 February 2023 he passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's 38,387 points to become the NBA's all-time leading scorer, and on 2 March 2024 he became the first player in league history to reach 40,000 career points. After eight seasons with the Lakers (2018–2026), Britannica's October 2026 update lists him with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Provenance: Built in Census Intake Wave 2 and held because intake order closed that window at rank 1000; staged here in ledger order; re-verified against the live graph at 3,603 entities (Gate A re-run 2026-10-16: still absent). Supply: 747 Supply Ledger, Tier 3 — Famous Birthdays ABSENT census, readiness rank 1011 (Basketball Players list). The census supplied the NAME ONLY; no fact in this record is sourced to it (CTL-GOV-004). SCOPE GATE: PASS — Black American basketball figure. Vital status: LIVING — active in the 2026–27 NBA preseason with the Philadelphia 76ers (Britannica team list updated 14 October 2026; October 2026 fixture listings). EDGE BASIS: played_for → Los Angeles Lakers (CTL-E-1780) is staged for the 2018–2026 Lakers tenure documented by Britannica; the later 76ers move does not disturb that historical edge. The staged played_for edge to the Los Angeles Lakers remains a historical 2018–2026 edge; no correction required.
