Claressa Shields (born Claressa Maria Shields on 17 March 1995 in Flint, Michigan) is an American professional boxer, self-styled 'GWOAT,' whose career has redrawn what dominance means in women's boxing. Introduced to the sport by her father, she won the middleweight gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics — the first Olympic women's boxing tournament — at seventeen, and repeated the feat at Rio in 2016, becoming the first American boxer to win consecutive Olympic golds. She turned professional in November 2016 and collected world titles across five weight classes, holding all four major belts simultaneously in three divisions, a feat no other boxer, male or female, had achieved in the four-belt era. On 2 February 2025, in her hometown of Flint, she outpointed Danielle Perkins to become the first undisputed women's heavyweight champion in history. She defended that crown against Lani Daniels in July 2025 and, on 22 February 2026 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, won every round on all three cards in a rematch with Franchón Crews-Dezurn, remaining undefeated.
