Jann Alexander Mardenborough, born 9 September 1991 in Darlington, England, and raised in Cardiff, Wales, is a British professional racing driver who reached the sport without a karting background. The son of former professional footballer Steve Mardenborough, he was a devoted player of the Gran Turismo video games when, in 2011, he won Nissan's GT Academy competition against some 90,000 entrants, becoming its third and youngest winner and earning a professional contract. He finished third in class on his Le Mans debut in 2013, won races in British GT and the GP3 Series, raced Nissan's LMP1 car in the 2015 World Endurance Championship, and then built a second career in Japan, winning in Super GT's GT300 class, finishing runner-up in Japanese Formula 3 in 2016 and taking a Super Formula pole position in 2017. The 2023 film Gran Turismo dramatized his story, with Mardenborough serving as co-producer, consultant and his own stunt driver. In 2025 he was racing a Ford Mustang GT3 for HRT Ford Performance in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, one of very few Black drivers at the international level of endurance racing.
