Schorling's Park was a Chicago ballpark on 39th Street between Princeton and Wentworth Streets, at 39th and Wentworth, whose life the Society for American Baseball Research divides into a white major-league act, a Black baseball act, and a final decline. Opened as South Side Park, it hosted its first game on April 21, 1900, as the original Chicago home of Charles Comiskey's White Stockings, later the White Sox. After Comiskey moved his club north, tavern owner John Schorling leased the grounds, rebuilt the stands Comiskey had removed, and in 1911 entered partnership with Rube Foster. The Chicago American Giants played their first game there on May 13, 1911, and the park became Black baseball's Chicago home: Foster's club won Negro National League pennants in 1920, 1921, and 1922 and Negro World Series titles in 1926 and 1927 on that ground. SABR records crowds, a 1919 riot-era National Guard encampment, night baseball in 1930, and years of mixed sporting and civic use. Vandals set fire to the wooden park on December 23, 1940; it was never rebuilt, the American Giants moved to Comiskey Park for 1941 onward, and Wentworth Gardens housing was later built on the site.
