Staged 2026-10-16 under CTL-GOV-006 (Scan Tail Wave 6 — 747 Program, Wave 13; sixth Scan Tail packet at the founder’s 40-record size). Gate A (2026-10-16): Gate A CLEAR (script + hand-checked 2026-10-16): no John Henrik Clarke entity, alias, or variant in the live graph (3,910 entities). ID CTL-E-6226 free at staging. Supply: 747 Supply Ledger — scan string #2423 (corpus-gap-candidates-2026-10-15.json), banked in the Scan Tail Wave 5 reserve (Appendix E), re-screened CLEAR against the live graph at 3,910 entities by this wave. The supply supplied the name only; every fact is sourced under CTL-GOV-004. SCOPE GATE: National record with a real Chicago thread, stated only as sourced: BlackPast places Clarke's 1932 boxcar migration route through Chicago en route to New York, and the University of Alabama bibliography records his articles in the Chicago Defender. He was not a Chicago resident in the opened sources, and the record does not claim one. Vital status: Born January 1, 1915, Union Springs, Alabama (both opened sources). Died July 16, 1998 (University of Alabama gives the exact date; BlackPast gives the year 1998 and New York City as place). Deceased — verified. STATISTICS — Dated facts from opened sources: New School teaching invitation 1949 (BlackPast); founded African Heritage Studies Association 1968 (BlackPast); Hunter College professor 1970-85, emeritus 1985 (University of Alabama); Carter G. Woodson Award 1958 and 1971 (University of Alabama). FRAMING DIFFERENCE: BlackPast describes Clarke as principally self-trained and says he left the South in 1932 at age eighteen — a 1915 birth makes him seventeen for most of 1932; the age is carried as BlackPast states it and the arithmetic difference is flagged here rather than silently corrected. Parent-name spellings differ slightly between sources (BlackPast: Willie Ella (Mays) Clarke; Alabama Authors: Willella (Mays) Clarke) and are not used in the description. MEDIA: photo HELD (HELD — candidate: a photographic portrait of Clarke from the John Henrik Clarke papers held by the New York Public Library (papers' location per the opened University of Alabama bibliography).
