VERIFIED evidence grade — build store (JSON graph)

Combined Graph record U-07700 · provenance: build store (JSON graph), record CTL-E-6828.

Terry Cummings is a Chicago-born power forward whose 18-season NBA career made him one of the most productive scorers of his era. Born in Chicago on March 15, 1961, and a graduate of Carver High School, he stayed home for college at DePaul University (1979–1982) before the San Diego Clippers selected him second overall in the 1982 NBA draft. He was voted NBA Rookie of the Year and earned two All-Star selections and two All-NBA honors, leading postseason teams in Milwaukee and San Antonio. According to Basketball-Reference (accessed 2026-11-03), he averaged 16.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game for his career. He closed his career with the Golden State Warriors (1999–2000) and retired after the 1999–2000 season. Note: a roster working note placing his Warriors tenure in 1991–1995 is not supported — those were San Antonio seasons; the verified Warriors tenure is 1999–2000.

Notes

Sports Encyclopedia roster CTL-SPE-0340. CORRECTION LOGGED: the brief's working note 'Warriors (1991–1995)' is contradicted by all sources in this pass — Cummings was with San Antonio 1989–1995 and Golden State 1999–2000; the played_for Warriors relationship is emitted with the corrected dates. Curator's Judgment (DRAFT): a Carver-to-DePaul-to-No. 2 pick pipeline makes Cummings a model case of Chicago developing elite frontcourt talent entirely in-city before a long, honored professional career. Photo: staged as CLEARED by the build lane, moved to HELD by the head at assembly — the staged Commons file does not exist and no verified subject photograph was found; see media layer.
