Anderson Silva (born April 14, 1975, in São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian-American mixed martial artist whose middleweight reign remains the longest in UFC history. Silva took the UFC middleweight title from Rich Franklin at UFC 64 on October 14, 2006, and held it for 2,457 days, defending it ten times and winning a UFC-record 16 consecutive fights before Chris Weidman knocked him out at UFC 162 on July 6, 2013; a broken leg ended the rematch that December. His later career is shadowed by two anti-doping cases, stated here as the record stands. In 2015 the Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended him for one year after he tested positive for drostanolone and androstane around his UFC 183 win over Nick Diaz, which was overturned to a no-contest; Silva denied knowingly taking any banned substance. In 2017 he tested positive for methyltestosterone and hydrochlorothiazide; USADA determined the positive came from a contaminated supplement from a Brazilian compounding pharmacy and imposed a one-year sanction in 2018, retroactive to November 2017. Silva's final UFC bout was a loss to Uriah Hall on October 31, 2020; he finished his MMA career 34–11 with one no-contest, and later boxed professionally, beating former world boxing champion Julio César Chávez Jr. in 2021.

The record

Notes

The anti-doping episodes are carried in full — the positives, the sanctions, the overturned result, Silva's denial of knowing use, and USADA's contaminated-supplement determination — per GOV-004; neither the reign nor the violations is allowed to erase the other in this record. Curator's Judgment (DRAFT): Silva's reign is the most beautiful sustained run in UFC history, and the anti-doping record is part of the record. The graph carries both.
