Evidence note (master store)

National Park Service news release (Dec 30, 2022) states the historic Pullman community was designated a national monument in 2015 — the first National Park Service unit in Chicago — and redesignated Pullman National Historical Park on Dec 29, 2022; it describes Pullman as 'America's first planned model industrial community' created by 'the sleeping car magnate,' significant for railroad transportation, industrial innovation, urban planning and design, the Pullman Strike and Boycott of 1894 and the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters (1925); the park superintendent calls it a 'historic neighborhood.' Establishes existence, historic planned-community/district status, and Chicago location. Does NOT cover: the name George M. Pullman, the 1880 founding date, the Lake Calumet siting, or the Hyde Park annexation in the stored name_origin; the stored 'Far South Side' descriptor is not stated. (fetched in full 2026-10-17)
