Evidence note (master store)

Saint Michael's Church exists as a church in Chicago's Old Town (North Town) area; the parish was founded in 1852. The cornerstone for the present large brick church was laid in 1866 at the corner of Eugenie Street and Cleveland Avenue, and the church was completed in 1869 with a 200-foot tower at the east end of its front. The church was gutted by the Chicago Fire of 1871 and restored to its original form; its exterior was redone in the late 1880s, when architect Herman J. Gaul added the steeple to the tower. The stored tallest-building period (1869-1885) is NOT covered by this source, and the stored height of 290 ft is NOT the height this source gives the 1869 church (fetched in full 2026-10-17)
