Evidence note (master store)

The first Chicago Board of Trade Building existed as an office/trading building at the Board of Trade's current location, 141 W. Jackson Blvd, Chicago; construction began in 1882 and it opened on May 1, 1885. The building's own history states that at the time of its construction it was the tallest building in Chicago. It was rendered structurally unsound in the 1920s and was replaced on the same site by the current (1930) Board of Trade Building. Height, stories, the clock-tower removal date, and the end year of its tallest period are NOT covered by this source (fetched in full 2026-10-17)
