Albertina Walker

Albertina Walker was born in Chicago in 1929, sang in West Point Baptist Church's youth choir, and was mentored by Mahalia Jackson, who took her on the road as a teenager. In 1951 she organized the Caravans, which launched the careers of Shirley Caesar, Inez Andrews, Dorothy Norwood, and James Cleveland, earning her the 'Star Maker' nickname.
