Chicago footwork/juke community
Verified evidence grade of this record
Footwork dance and music emerged in the 1990s-2000s from house parties, ghettos, and underground dance competitions on Chicago's South and West sides, with dancers and producers pushing each other; the scene persisted through Dance Mania's 2001 closure and broke internationally via YouTube dance videos.
