VERIFIED evidence grade of this record

Genesis Owusu (born Kofi Owusu-Ansah on April 17, 1998, in Koforidua, Ghana) is a Ghanaian-Australian rapper and singer based in Canberra, where his family migrated in 2000. His debut album, Smiling with No Teeth (2021) — a genre-blurring confrontation with racism and depression, built with a live band — won four trophies at the 2021 ARIA Music Awards: Album of the Year, Best Hip Hop Release, Best Independent Release and Best Cover Art. The Guardian's reviewer noted the historic frame: he was the first rapper, and only the second person of colour, to take the ARIA Album of the Year title. The follow-up, Struggler (2023), extended his international reach, and his third album, Redstar Wu & the Worldwide Scourge, arrived in 2026.
