VERIFIED evidence grade of this record

American singer-songwriter and actress, born Halle Lynn Bailey on March 27, 2000, in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in Mableton, who first reached audiences as one half of the sister duo Chloe x Halle. Posting covers to YouTube as teenagers, she and her sister Chloe Bailey caught Beyoncé's attention with their rendition of Pretty Hurts and signed to Beyoncé's Parkwood Entertainment in 2016. The duo released The Kids Are Alright (2018) and Ungodly Hour (2020), earning five Grammy nominations together, while Bailey acted in the sitcom Grown-ish from 2018 to 2022. Her solo breakthrough came on screen and record at once: she starred as Ariel in Disney's live-action The Little Mermaid (2023), played Nettie in The Color Purple (2023), and released her debut solo single Angel in 2023, which earned her first solo Grammy nomination, for Best R&B Song. Her debut solo studio album, Love?... or Something Like It, followed on October 24, 2025, marking her step from celebrated duo member and Disney lead to a solo recording artist in her own right.

The record

Notes

Statistics: Six Grammy nominations and no wins as of October 15, 2026 — five with Chloe x Halle plus one solo nomination, Best R&B Song for Angel at the 66th Grammy Awards (Recording Academy artist page, GRAMMY.com, accessed October 15, 2026); sources citing five nominations are counting the duo work only · Parkwood Entertainment signing dated 2016 (NPR, June 23, 2020); some secondary sources date the deal to 2015, and the record follows NPR · Debut solo album Love?... or Something Like It released October 24, 2025 (cross-checked biographical sources, October 2026) — the record's softest-sourced date, retained because two independent summaries agree · Curator's Judgment: DRAFT — for founder review: Halle Bailey's Ariel casting was a genuine cultural event — a Black girlhood icon redrawn in her image — but CTL files the musician first: a guitarist and harmonist formed in the Parkwood discipline, whose solo work now tests whether the duo's promise becomes a singular voice. The early evidence, Angel above all, says yes. · Photo slot: CLEARED CANDIDATE — Wikimedia Commons File:Halle Bailey White House Easter Egg Roll 2023 (crop).jpg, The White House, Public domain, license verified from Commons API metadata on 2026-10-15; direct URL https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/ff/Halle_Bailey_White_House_Easter_Egg_Roll_2023_%28crop%29.jpg; not downloaded — visual pass follows merge per standing pattern.
